So this is what I woke up to this morning. Joy. Half an inch of ice on everything and now we're emmersed in fog. Sounds like fun driving! Unless you've ever driven in Minnesota... (Those of you who have driven in Minnesota know what I mean, if you haven't, you'd never understand.) Driving actually wasn't that bad once we got to the highway, I thought it would be though. I'm happy to say I was wrong. For once. Since, um we all know I'm never wrong. ::cough:: Yeah. Never. Ish. lol
Now here we see... white... and white... and ice on the trees.... and conspicuous lack of snow. Hmm. Our white Christmas seems to be confuzzled. White in the "white" Christmas is snow dear weather. Not fog. Nice try.
My cousin is stuck in the airport due to the weather loving to screw with people this time of year lol I honestly think it gets a kick out of it.
I can hear it's little evilly calculating voice now...
"Hehe, a blizzard there, an ice storm here... what's missing? Oh yes! Fog, right... there! Mafnificient! It's beautiful... it's my masterpiece! Bwahahaha Christmas travelers won't know what hit them!"
I'm only mildly exaggerating. Because I never exaggerate. Nope. I'm not a drama queen. Nope.
I'm starting to think our weathermen lie to us on a regular basis. It's like who can make it the most exciting, rather than most accurate. According to THEM we should be buried in five inches of snow right now. You know, weathermen are the only profession that can consistantly be wrong and not be fired. Okay, I digress, them and politicians. Oh you know you were thinking it!
Tomorrow is going to be crazy busy. The day before Christmas dinner, means a ton of baking and general mixing of things. Only ten people here this year. My cousins Lisa (and Aaron, boyfriend) and Martha (and Josh, her best friend), my grandma Mary, my aunt Carol and uncle John. The of course us three.
So here's the menu for dinner. (Pictures of the house decorated WILL be posted, I swear.)
Appetizers:
Stuffed baby portabellos
Crab stuffed tomatoes
Bacon wrapped water chestnuts (hold bacon in place with a toothpick, place in a slow cooker with BBQ sauce)
Fruit platter, with vanilla yogurt for dip (Martha's bringing it)
Sausage cheese balls (ask for the recipe, better than any I've had, recent discovery)
Main course:
Prime rib (dry rubbed with a mix seasoning mom loves)
Leg of lamb (thyme, rosemary and garlic, mint jelly [even though I won't eat lamb lol])
Grilled asparagus (olive oil mixed with fresh minced garlic and onion, fresh crushed black pepper, coarse salt, even mom who hated it loves how I make it lol)
Twice baked potatoes (better than any I've ever had, ask for the recipe if you like twice baked potatoes, trust me on this)
Honey roasted parsnips (sweet and creamy like dessert)
Desserts:
Cheesecake (my aunt)
Red Velvet cake (my aunt... bought lol)
Gingered Pears with cinnamon whip cream (best whip cream out there, honestly, and very simple)
Okay, now I'm hungry lol Tell me that doesn't sound like an excellent dinner? Now I need lunch.
What's everyone else planning for Christmas?

You've got my sympathy. As I write this, it's just switched over from snow flurries to freezing rain, with an inch of all rain forcast for after sunrise with temps up into the forties. So much for a "white xmas" in Maine, too. Bet the ice on the lake (frozen) will get all soft and icky, too. And forget about shopping in the afternoon -- it'll be jammed. Oh well, my wife claims she doesn't want anything anyway...
Yeah I don't think weather men/women can ever truly tell the weather but they like to think so. All that food sounds amazing! I hope you enjoy your time with your family and keep warm and safe! :)

Make sure to wage a good old-fashioned War on Christmas for me!
Oh geez, I think I'll stick with AZ, lol. It was foggy yesterday when I got off work, but had burned off mostly by 9:00 or 10:00am. No ice here unless you drive up to Flagstaff or further north. Don't you just love it? Hope it doesn't get too bad while we are in Texas. Merry Christmas!!! ;) De
