Six thirty this morning a got a call, which I missed. Then I got a message with a familiar but tired voice saying "I know if I was there you'd kill me, but I knew if I didn't call you you'd kill me anyway, but I just wanted to tell you that as of 4:32 this morning Erika (full name) was born. She's a happy healthy little twerp. Now call me back so I can fill you in!"

I never dialed a number so fast in my life.

"YOU'RE A MOM!!!!" I squealed. All sense of being tired flying straight out the window. I heard her laughing and say, "Yep, I am."

"Okay okay who does she look like?"

"Well, both of us. She has his eyes and my nose."

"Aww... I get pictures right?"

"I asked the hospital to take them, yes you're getting pictures."

"I just... I can't even think what to say I'm just getting a flashing neon sign in my head saying 'IT'S A GIRL' over and over!"

"That's okay, I woke you up early, I know you can't think in the morning."

"Yeah you must be exhausted honey. How was the labor?"

"Well... contractions were pretty bad, I couldn't stay still for the epidural, they had to hold me down. I just said 'I'm sorry I can't help it' but they managed."

"How long was it?"

"The contractions took a long time but the delivery itself was pretty short."

"Well that's good... How much does she weigh?"

"A little over six pounds. Eighteen inches long. Very healthy."

"Good... that's good... Well sweety you need rest you've been through a lot. I'll call you back later today okay?"

"Yeah you need sleep too I woke you up early lol"

"Oh don't worry about it, best wake up call ever! Love you chick. Get some rest."

"Love you too. Bye."

Something about a baby being born healthy into the world, makes everything beautiful.

Congratulations Angie! I love you babe. I'm so happy for you and your guy. Can't wait to see her!!!
