WARNING: This is me ranting, uncensored, furious at points, and completely totally and utterly NOT "politically correct." If you're an extreme liberal or conservative for that matter, don't read this. I'll just piss you off.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"
--Alice in Wonderland
Here's some examples of why my world seems so very mad:
“Alice: It would be so nice if something made sense for a change.”
--Alice in Wonderland
We have a maximum security prison for women here. Without a fence. There's a hedge. According to them it's "symbolic." There have been seven escapes in ten years. This is the conversation I was listening to on the radio:
Warden: "There have been seven escapes in ten years!"
Talk show host: "Seven out of ten?"
W: "Exactly! Seventy percent!"
(Long pause.)
TSH: "Wait... You said seven escapes... in ten years?"
W: "Yes! Seven out of ten! That's seventy percent!"
TSH: "You got me there."
"The public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything, except what is worth knowing"
--Oscar Wilde
Yesterday I sign online and see on the welcome screen, "TomKat have baby!" After that there was an article in small print about natural disasters. Good to know our priorities are straight.
"You mean you can't take less. It's very easy to take more than nothing."
--Alice in Wonderland
Today I get in the car for work. The radio is on a talk station, local. They're talking about building a new stadium. The fuss is over whether it should be publicly funded or if the players/owner should pay for it. Lemme think... Raise our taxes for a stadium most of us can't afford to go to more than once or twice a year... Or make players and a multi-millionaire pay for their own stadium... Hmm... They make millions every year... My parents barely make 40,000 a year... Hmmm... I wonder...
"America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between."
--Oscar Wilde
Then mom tells me gas prices in NYC are topping out at $4 a gallon. That the state average by the end of the summer is expected to be $3.50 a gallon. Afterwards she tells me that Exxon just paid some executives (I think she said ten, pardon me if the number is wrong) $100 MILLION to buy them out. Must I point out the PROFITS these companies are making are in the BILLIONS of DOLLARS? Or did you already get that memo?
"Sex education may be a good idea in the schools, but I don't believe the kids should be given homework"
--Bill Cosby
Here we have a coach being charged with child pornography. He worked with elementary children. Those kids have been violated by a sick twisted man.
"Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian."
--Robert Orben
Then there's the whole illegal immigrant thing. Which honestly, I wish everyone would just shut up about. I lived in Texas nearly all my life, all the south, NOW that this has reached more northern states it's suddenly a problem? Sorry, but shut up, you called me an idiot, you called me stupid, you said no such thing, you cried that I was a racist, and NOW you agree with me that this is a problem? Sorry, but you get no sympathy from me.
Try going into a town in Texas and no one will speak to you in English because you're white. Sure, racism only comes from white girls. Let me not offend anyone with me being more than pissed off that just because I'm white, I'm evil. I'm not a racist, my family has been slaves, but of course, you don't think about that, do you? Blacks and Mexicans weren't the only slaves! LEARN YOUR HISTORY BEFORE YOU JUMP DOWN MY THROAT! (Oh my god I wasn't PC, eek, I'm going to have some PETA nutjob down my throat now aren't I? Well guess what! I'm in PETA. People Eating Tasty Animals.)
I'm sick and tired of this BULLSHIT! What the F*CK is wrong with this country?! When did we get so god damned crazy?! I've been best friends with people of every shape color and IQ, and I DIDN'T CARE! They were PEOPLE! When did we stop being PEOPLE and start being stereotypes? I'm not longer Lily, I'm an "18 year-old 'Caucasian' [what a BS thing to call me I'm WHITE] female of mixed decent, from the southern regions of the United States."
"Hatred is blind, as well as love."
--Oscar Wilde
I have a Muslim friend. She's my best friend here. I love her with all my heart. She's like a sister to me. Her father is from Pakistan, her mother is Greek. Do I look at her and see that? NO. And I NEVER have. I've always looked at her and saw a girl. I'm PROUD that I can say that, because there aren't many people that could say that. My first serious crush was on a Mexican boy. I've had crushes on black boys. (EXUCSE ME "African American" [nevermind that Africa isn't the only place people with dark skin come from]) And my parents were okay with that, their only problem with me dating outside my race (by the way, I hate that term, I believe in dating in the HUMAN race) was that if I had children with whoever, they'd have a hard life for being of mixed decent.
"Rape is the only crime in which the victim becomes the accused."
--Freda Adler
"I think when a person has been found guilty of rape he should be castrated. That would stop him pretty quick."
--Billy Graham
We have rapists in this country going free every second to do it again, with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. There was a story not long ago about a court trying to decide that because this poor woman that had been raped wasn't a virgin, if it was still rape, and if so, how serious it was. Because, after all, she wasn't a virgin. Not much lost is there? All I have to say to that is I know rape SURVIVORS (I detest the word victim) and there is no such thing as a "LESS SERIOUS" RAPE! RAPE IS STILL RAPE.
"Probably the toughest time in anyone's life is when you have to murder a loved one because they're the devil."
--Emo Philips
Then we have murders, ugh, these disgusting wastes of human flesh that for some reason beyond my comprehension God let live long enough to fill out their sicko desires, for which I have to have faith that His plan is truly for the best, even if it's beyond my understanding. These men and women walking FREE in this country because our law system is shitty. And on the next page we have all of these INNOCENT people being prosecuted and put to death because some equally sick waste of flesh didn't do their job properly or framed them to look good for a promotion or retirement or just to get the publicity, instead of doing the moral thing!
"Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps."
--Emo Philips
Then we have the terrorists. Oh let's talk about that shall we? Let's talk about these "poor misunderstood creatures" that are raping, torturing, slaughtering people by the dozens, neigh, HUNDREDS, and we're supposed to be kind and sympathic to these monsters? WTF?! I'm sorry but last I checked, NO religion in the WORLD says that killing A PERSON (no less hundreds) is cool. Well, none any of us actually like, save the sicko murders I mentioned above.
"The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast"
--Oscar Wilde
NOW how about celebrities? Oh I've been dying to latch my teeth into this subject. These rich spoiled, ego inflated, self righteous, millionaire morons. Oh, all the delicious examples I have of their stupidity, it's so hard to pick. Let's start with them (let's all remember how POOR these individuals ARE) telling all of us to donate to charity, to save the world with our scarce and hard earned dollars, while they contribute a few thousand to a good cause. Oh goody. Nevermind one of them alone could feed a tribe in Africa for years with ONE of their movie salaries. Heaven forbid they give up their obscene excess of money for a cause that doesn't benefit THEM! ::GASP:: The audacity I have to suggest such a diabolical thing! And can any of us forget our dearly beloved Sean Penn, going out to New Orleans after Katrina to "rescue" people... in a row boat... with his camera crew? Such selflessness... Let's not forget him going to the Iraq to be a diplomat... of course such a logical choice that Sean Penn, clad in silver armor to save the world... duh... why didn't I see that before? (Oh and by the way, in Penn's own words the amount of stranded people he rescued ranged from 15 to 80. It's good to see he's so honest. BUT, at least he did something. Even if his intentions were entirely wrong. And yes, that hurts worse than a rattlesnake bite to say that, considering how much I don't like him.)
"If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now."
--Douglas Adams, Hitckhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
And our politicians, oh my my, where to start, where to start... How about their blood sucking ways? Or oh no! Even better! Their knack for telling the truth! Nevermind they wrote it themselves... Or what about their incredible salaries! Or oh oh, how about them being so sickeningly self righteous! Their insanely generous salaries! Oh, how could I forget! Them screwing over the economy in the United States! OR, or, what about them using huge American disasters such as 9/11 and Katrina, to further their careers! Such upstanding men and women... If only I could tell them how much I loath their existence... And no, my hate of most politicians isn't limited to any party lines. ("'Ordinary Minnesotans don't get paid if they don't get their work done, and the same rules should apply for politicians,' Pawlenty said in a statement." But I do love my Governor.)
"You know more than you think you know, just as you know less than you want to know."
--Oscar Wilde
Now, let's get to our education system. I'm getting warm fuzzies just thinking about it... Well, first, let's mention all the pedophiles that work in schools. Doesn't it make perfect sense that that's where we'd want to place them? Checking their mental health? Oh you silly goose, why would we do that? They're only working with our children... If they seem fine they probably are! Yeah... Dahmer was such a nice man... Everyone said so... So were Gacy and Bundy... Everyone though they were nice too.
"Convicted rape and sexual assault offenders serving time in State prisons report that two-thirds of their victims were under the age of 18, and 58% of those--or nearly 4 in 10 imprisoned violent sex offenders--said their victims were aged 12 or younger."
Still feel your children are safe?
"In 90% of the rapes of children less than 12 years old, the child knew the offender, according to police-recorded incident data."
(Statistics from Bureau of Justice)
Is that scary enough? Because that's what I've dealt with all my life.
And what do we do? We need to warn the children and parents about the ways these sickos are luring in children, but when we do that, we tell the sickos just how to go about luring in their new pray. So what's the solution? Is the information making it worse, or better? Are we tempting the people that already had a tendency, or are we just opening our eyes to a problem that's always been there?
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be."
--Shell Silverstein
Still staying on the education subject, doesn't it seem like our money is getting, well, flushed? The problem is we keep throwing money at the problem, rather than figuring out HOW to use the money it make things work. Some teachers suck. But they get paid well. Should they? Shouldn't they be fired? If kids aren't learning, they aren't doing their job? Isn't that how school, and jobs, work? You fail you get fired?
"I feel my heart break to see a nation ripped apart by it's own greatest strength--it's diversity."
--Melissa Etheridge
Then, I read this, from an email I got yesterday, and I have to say, I think he hit it square on the head. We're so focused on how we're different, it's ripping our country apart. We're not just people anymore. We're everything else.
"I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but almost always end up where I need to be."
--Douglas Adams
I'm looking around at my country, and I'm wondering, as much as I love what we're based on, as much as I love saying I'm an American, how much longer can I say that and feel proud? Because there are times now, with the world being such a crazy place, I'd rather remove myself to some place away from the craziness, away from this mad, mad world. But all the world is mad, all the world is spinning, and we're all pawns on the board. What a wicked game, what a wicked web...
Oh Toto... I don't think I'm in Kansas anymore... And I better follow that white rabbit... maybe he knows the way out...

Your rants on the maximum security is the exact same conversation that's on The Daily Show. It's on my iPod. lol
I was wondering if you hear of any prison, and if it was real or not... but I forgot.
And WHO CARES if Tom and Katie have a baby? I sure don't. lol
-Andrew
-No blog... yet.
Do you have HBO? If yes, there's an EXCELLENT documentary on rape on "On Demand", called Rape in a Small Town, about an amazing 76 year old woman who was raped in her bedroom, and what happened (or almost didn't happen) to the 25 year old rapist. If you don't have HBO, try to find it someplace else. It's DEFINITELY worth watching.
Judi
I know. Most of the time I really feel like I'm living in "Bizzaro World." Katie Holmes is from the Toledo area, and our local station actually put a crawl across the bottom of our screen. I started reading it, thinking it was a storm warning, only to see it was announcing Tom and Katie's baby! Sheeesh!
Lots of rants there....I think it is funny now myself that people are just starting to see the problem with immigration here....I live in tx too and everywhere I go seems like there is always an english/spanish version of everything. About the dating outside your "race"...it isn't something I would want to do only because A) I am not usually attracted to other races and B) there are too many problems in my life without me adding another hardship....but I don't fault people for wanting to. And don't get me even started on the public school system....all I can say is it is such a joke!
