Universal Will Not Pull 'United 93' Trailer, Despite Criticism

I watched the clip, then I read the story, and I have to say that I'm really glad they aren't pulling it. I do think there should be a warning before though, because even as "distant" as I was from 9/11, I sobbed seeing this clip. For once, though, I've got something good to say about Universal Studios.

I find myself in awe of how quickly so many people have forgotten how they spent that morning. How many of us have completely moved on from this disgusting act, the "oh well" attitude that has come after that tragedy has appauled me. When I first heard they were making this movie, I was horrified. I was disgusted that someone would try and profit from this. But after seeing the clip, after seeing the way people are acting now, I think it was a really wonderful idea. People are forgetting what happened to our country. People are forgetting the pain of what happened. Too many people have forgotten the amazing bravery of the people on that plane, on the heros that tried to save the people in the World Trade Center, and lost their lives doing so.

I see so many cheap attemps to "remember" those people. A flag sticker on the back of your car saying "We Will Not Forget" isn't enough. Every now and then saying a little prayer in the back of your mind for the people that lost the ones they loved, isn't enough.

It's amazing to me, how much of a politcal playing piece this has become. Will mentioned that the other day, and although I do believe some of them truly do have it in their hearts, he's right. It's just another game token. And that makes me sick. Human life isn't a playing card.

We should never forget those people. Any of them. And that's why I think this movie is good idea at this point in time. We're already forgetting.

I'm looking forward to that movie, as strange as that may sound. I'm not ghoulish, but I agree with you, people tend to forget.

I don't think people have forgotten as much as moved on...and while that sounds a bit heartless...life does move on. I think it is a good/bad thing to do the movie myself...bad because it was done for profits and good because it keeps those people in our memory. I think it truly is just a catch 22.

I agree. People tend to forget. We need to remember. How many are still talking about the Oklahoma City Bombing of April 1995? 11yr anniv coming up. Let's see how that plays out in the media. And ditto...I too have cried each time I see the trailer. De
