Hi guys and gals! Mostly gals... lol! Just 100 more visits and I will have broken my 1000 line! Woo-hoo! I anxiously await the day....
So today I was supposed to go to Half Price.... But duty calls! I'm at work... again. Oh well. It's not like Half Priced Books is going anywhere soon! But I'm dying for a new Alice Hoffman book.... :::sigh::: I guess it can wait....
I did buy The Five People You Meet in Heaven though.... I haven't started it yet. I think I will this summer. When I can devote myself to it. I have a feeling it's the kind of book you get lost in.
I'm almost done witht he quartet I have been reading by Tamora Peirce. She a very good writer. I was expecting to be disappointed, because she's a children's author. I was expecting a childish story. But I was wrong. It is actually very well written.
Then I've started Walden and Other Writings by Henry David Thoreau. I'm only like five pages in but it's a reallt though filed book. Very intense that way. I think it's going to take me a while to read it....
I think I read children's books more than adults. I think it's because when your writing a book for a child, you're free. You don't have those adult set limitations. You can do anything. Anything is possible to a child, so anything is possible when you're writing it.
I guess that's why I prefer to write childrens stories. There aren't any limits. You can make a horse purple with a tint of hunter green, and have bright yellow eyes, and that's okay. But when I'm writing something for a "mature" audience, there are expectations. There are bounderies of plausiblity which you must abide by. I don't like bounderies. I never have.
Okay, out of my little theological session here! Yesterday it rained. But not nearly enough. Our tomatoes plants on the porch are getting nice and tall. One more month and I see tomatoes in our future. And peppers too.
The elephant ears aren't too happy though. They're taking forever to come up this year. They are just poking their sleepy heads above the ground. They just won't wake up!
My bleeding heart is happy. The blooms are large and healthy. Not to mention numerous. There are so many! I can't believe it!
We have a surprise in store for us. A mama bird, a robin, has made her nest in the elbow of the rain gutter piping. We'll have baby robins screeching in no time. I'm excited though. I'll have to get my camera out and a ladder. I haven't had anything interesting to take pictures of in forever! I miss taking pictures. I used to take them all the time.
Anywho! Hope you're all having a lovely day! OXOX ~ Lily
