Ladies, I have made it through a right of passage. Sleazy drunk guys? Done that. First kiss? Been there. First date? Duh. "Passed into womanhood," (as my mother put it lol) a long time ago.
But I had yet to experience something that is probably considered a right of passage for many women. Until today.
I waxed.
My eyebrows. (God if you thought I'd do it something else first you're nuts lol)
But god damn women... Who the hell thought this up? It's like ripping off a band aid. But it hurts for a long long time after.
Hey, I have an idea, let's rip out hair, in patches, WITH the root! Huh? Who's with me?!?
W...t....f... people...
I'm trying to decide the best way to describe the yanking of hair follicles. But nothing is doing it justice. Burning screaming omg pain doesn't even seem close.
What's funny, is at the time, it didn't hurt. But NOW, 20 minutes later, it HURTS.
That's not fair. It made me think I was okay. IT LIED TO ME!
So I'm sitting here, stroking the now very tender skin and contemplating what woman what through this and then looked at her crotch and said "hey... I wonder..."
Was her pain threshold at 99.999? God... for someone with a very low pain threshold I'm wondering how that could even occur to a woman as a good idea. I bet it was a man. Evil evil men and their devilish ways...
To the male readers I have, next time you're rushing your wife/girlfriend out the door, remember this, we do this for you, so it won't kill you to put on a clean shirt now and then. And your socks go IN the hamper, not next to it.
Thank God for humor. It must have been someone with an amazing sense of humor to think up this kind of torture.
Dedicated to my hair follicles... May you live in a better place.

Um, Lily,
I wax my brows every three weeks...or rather my stylist does. She also gives me a mani and a pedi.
I know this pain - it's not THAT bad :).

OMG Lily, you are so funny! I've often waxed my eyebrows, but not on a regular basis. I have also thought "beauty is indeed pain", lol. And the crotch area, no way! :)) De

Never did it...never will. I must admit I considered it, but NOW? no way!
I think the best "right of passage" is acceptance of oneself.

I, for one, have learned to appreciate the efforts that women go through. I tend to not "rush" anyone out the door. Wax on!
