Just got off the phone with my aunt. They finished the biopsy. It's NOT lymphoma or tuberculosis, thank you God... It's an infection of some sort.
However... during surgery, the doctor was trying to "unwrap" the infection from her throat, but because it was wrapped so tightly he accidentally cut her esophagus. They're putting a stint in, and keeping her from moving her esophagus at all. She's going to spend the next few days in PO (she won't be able to eat or drink) and then they're going to have her swallow something to see if it's leaking or if she healed. If she healed she can go home. If she's not... they're going to have to preform a "marjor surgery." I don't know what they'll do though.
Please keep praying for her and Matt. He's still completely distraught, and I can't imagine how scared she is.

I am glad it wasn't something super serious...I hope she heals fast and soon!

The lymph nodes in my neck swelled a few weeks back. I took an antibiotic and the swelling went away: it was caused by insect bites. That's awful what your friend went through. It's completely unacceptable, in my opinion, that her esophagus was cut. But I'm happy that she didn't have a life-threatening disease. Now if she can just get out of the hospital without anything else happening! :-)
