Okay. Everyone gets them. Those strange calls from who knows where, the area codes you've never seen, and no message left. It's not uncommon. It's fairly normal. Wrong number and you think nothing more, right?
Well, my mom has been getting calls on her phone for the past few months that have area codes I've never seen. So today after she got another one, I pulled down the yellow pages, flipped to the front and looked them up. The numbers came from two very odd places. Places we've never had any personal contact with.
Technically they aren't area codes.
They're COUNTRY codes.
Five-zero-seven and six-seven-eight.
Panama and Vanuatu. Yes, where Survivor was last filmed, THAT Vanuatu. And yes Panama as in Panama Canal.
So WHO has this number? WHO knows that? WHO has been trying to call? WHO never leaves a message? Absolutely no idea. But mom's never answered and now has no intention of answering. So, I guess we'll never know.

That is weird, Lily. Years ago a friend of ours was getting these weird calls. There would be no one there. They finally traced it to a fax machine number who had their number put in incorrect. It was waiting to fax, waiting for the fax tone but never got it so that's why it didn't make the usual faxing sound. Drove them crazy for a bit until they figured it out.
Hey, I'm coming your way next month. Amy (my little mentee) and me are doing a college tour. She wants to go the University of Minnesota or St. Cloud University. She got accepted into St. Cloud.
I think we are going to stay at a hotel near the Mall of America.
